I have just received an underpayment of tax letter for £1838.20 for the tax year 2012=13 stating that as I had 2 employers applying a PAYE code giving the full tax free allowances and so now I owe money. I don't see how this is my fault when it wasn't me directly claiming anything. also the 2 employers are not people I was doing any actual work for. one is my incapacity allowance and the other an income protection plan. I am lthat after my personal allowance has been deducted I have £3131 that needs taxing making tax chargeable of £626.20 this although not happy with, I understand. we then get to the fun bit where they add £1212.00 as another adjustment bringing me to the £1838.20
firstly can thy just drop this on my lap and expect payment. am no where near being qualified in such matters but to me it looks like they are asking 3 times the annual amount of £626.20. before I ring them up with what I think about this caculations -- if in wrong forum could some one move me please
