Hello there. I'd really appreciate a little help with this if anybody knows the answer.
I'm filling in my tax SA at the moment due to doing a few weeks self employed work up to April 2013 and have got to the bit where it asks about
"Turnover - takings, fees, sales or money earned by your business:"
I do understand that this is the amount I earned in total as self employed before tax deductions however...
The agency who I get my work through use a payroll company to which I pay £20 per week. So... Do I minus the £80 I paid for the four weeks self employed work and put that figure as my takings etc or put the total before that and explain the £80 somewhere else? I was paying 30% CIS at the time as I didn't have a UTR number so if I put the amount before payroll fees and the amount of tax paid it won't add up if they look at it. On my payslip it does do the tax deduction from the 'Gross or Measured Works' (after taking off the payroll fee) so I'm thinking that perhaps I just total up the four weeks earnings after paying the payroll fee. Does anybody here know for sure? Just seems a bit... Odd. I mean surely the taxman wants to know about those £20s? I'm not bothered about claiming anything like expenses or whatever concerning these fees - I just want the thing to balance out and everything to be correct. Plus it means that I'm nearly home and dry when it comes to doing the SA :)
I really would appreciate any help. Thanks in advance
