When my husband was working, he received medical insurance as a company benefit and was taxed in full via his code.
Now that he has retired (end July), the benefit ceased automatically and it was my understanding that the benefit would be calculated pro rata for the period April-July.
On contacting HMRC, we were told that the full year's benefit would have to stay in the 2014/15 coding. This does not seem right.
Does anyone know the actual section of the HMRC manual that we can quote at them in our next phone call or letter?
